RTL filed suit against the media regulator. A year ago, the RBA granted television licenses in April 2006, reallocating existing concessions and granting new ones. RTL owned a previously existing TV channel and was rejected for a new license. Its broadcast activities were immediately suspended. The RBA’s reasoning at the time for rejecting RTL’s application was foreign ownership restrictions. RTL challenged the decision through the Serbian legal system. News Corporation, principally controlled by Rupert Murdoch, was awarded a new license. - May 26, 2007
