Dare to compare
“the real target”
Big French radio broadcasters SkyRock and NRJ took to trade press with audience claims after the most recent Médiamétrie release. Both exhort morning rating primacy. (See more on recent French radio ratings here)
Comparative advertising in France is, well, touchy. NRJ and Skyrock went to court over comparative claims in 2002.
It’s a battle, great fun! You be the judge of which ad works for the media buyers. (JMH)
Confusion not Absolute
Everybody “pleased”
UK broadcaster Absolute Radio and Swedish distiller V&S, owner of Absolut vodka, reached a settlement over whether or not folks can tell the difference between radio and vodka. V&S brought suit against Absolute Radio in October 2008 charging trademark infringement. TIML Radio, owner of Absolute Radio, prepared to meet up in court.
The settlement allows Absolute Radio to continue using the brand name, reported the Guardian (April 29). Other details remain confidential, which usually means money changed hands. (JMH)
