CRo 1 Radiozurnal Continues to Slip, Frekvence 1 Moves Closer to Top of Czech Audience SurveyCroatian survey shows strong audience for public radio.Fourth quarter 2004 Mediaprojekt audience survey results show the leading position of Czech public radio Cro 1 over second ranked Frekvence 1 narrowing. The survey now reports weekly reach rather than daily reach and shows several stations changing position after format and marketing changes since mid-year 2004. Radio Impuls continues to slide despite moving away from the soft AC format. Radio Blanik also lost audience. The format changes and shifts in audience appear to benefit Evropa 2. Prague local station Radio Dee Jay, re-branded from Radio Bonton, also lost audience as did leading Prague local station Country Radio. Both Kiss 98fm and Radio Beat report audience increases. Long established stations continue to hold audiences in Croatia. Media Metar, a local survey research institute, released basic data from a January audience survey. Privately owned commercial station Narodni Radio leads in the national poll with 18.86% market share.
But Croatian public radio, Hrvatska Radio (HR), dominates the landscapes with two national channels and four local channels in the top ten. Main channel HR1 ranked second (12.67%) and HR2 ranked fourth (6.25%). Four local public stations ranked in the top ten; Radio Split 4th, Radio Dalmacija 8th, Radio Sljeme 9th and Radio Rijka 10th. Commercial pop music station Radio Otovoreni placed third (11.63%). Zaghreb local station Radio Obiteljski ranked 7th. Though licensed to separate companies, Radio Narodni and Radio Obiteljski are co-located with TV station Z1 and report financial results together. In 2003 the stations reported €7m in revenue, approximately one-quarter of the estimated 2003 radio advertising revenue for Croatia. News and information station Radio 101 claims being the first independent broadcaster in the region, established in 1984. The station ranked sixth overall in the recent survey and has a measurable following in the capital Zaghreb among foreigners and up-scale listeners. Different organizations and institutes have conduced and released Croatian radio audience surveys in recent years. |
