The NRJ hit music radio format returned to Denmark, marking its strong presence in Scandinavia. The Danish-language channel launched November 1st on FM mobile apps, DAB and online, not to forget that Facebook page. Initially, there are no ads. That will change.
NRJ Danmark is licensed to club DJ Philip Lundsgaard and Lars Nielsen, owner of TVR Media (Nord FM). French broadcaster NRJ Groupe holds the intellectual property. NRJ Groupe was awarded a Copenhagen concession for the NRJ format in 1998, which was sold to local owners when the company began to exit direct ownership in Scandinavia. Those new owners dropped the NRJ franchise in 2013. (See more about media in Denmark here)
"With Denmark we continue to build the largest radio network in Europe, and we will be able to implement strategic synergies in the Nordic region, which make it possible to bring something new, dynamic and exciting to listeners in Denmark,” said NRJ Groupe International chief executive Richard Mazeret in a statement quoted by Berlingske (October 31).
In August the NRJ franchise holder in Sweden, RBS Broadcasting, a subsidiary of NRJ Group, was granted a national commercial radio license. Bauer Media, owner of leading national radio channel Mix Megapol, is advertising representative for NRJ Sweden. RBS Broadcasting also has a Stockholm local radio concession, currently produced by Bauer Media.
